Position Overview:
The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems and components in our boats. This role will work closely with the engineering, production, and quality assurance teams to ensure all electrical systems meet industry standards, customer specifications, and Freeman Boatworks' high-quality expectations.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and oversee the installation of electrical systems for marine applications, including power distribution, lighting, navigation, and communication systems.
- Create detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Collaborate with design and production teams to integrate electrical systems into boat designs.
- Select appropriate electrical components and materials to ensure system reliability and performance in marine environments.
- Conduct testing and troubleshooting of electrical systems to identify and resolve issues.
- Ensure all electrical systems comply with relevant industry regulations, standards, and safety protocols.
- Provide technical support to the production team during boat assembly and testing phases.
- Work with suppliers and vendors to source electrical components and manage inventory.
- Participate in product improvement initiatives and recommend design modifications to enhance performance and manufacturability.
- Document all design changes, test results, and project progress.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably in the marine or automotive industry.
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks Electrical, Rhinoceros 3D, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of DC and AC electrical systems, wiring practices, and electrical components.
- ABYC certification is a plus.
- Experience with marine electrical systems, including battery management, lighting, and navigation electronics is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
