Position Overview
The Human Resources Manager will be responsible for leading HR initiatives, policies, and programs that align with our company’s goals. This role will focus on employee relations, talent acquisition, compliance, benefits administration, and performance management. The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented professional with strong leadership skills and a passion for creating an engaging work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted HR advisor to the leadership team on organizational planning, culture development, and talent development.
- Provide guidance and support on employee relations matters, conflict resolution, and performance management.
- Develop and implement initiatives to enhance employee engagement, recognition, and retention.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations (FLSA, OSHA, ADA, etc.).
- Maintain and update the employee handbook and HR policies to reflect best practices and legal requirements.
- Lead workplace investigations and recommend corrective actions as needed.
- Develop and execute effective recruitment strategies to attract top talent.
- Oversee onboarding and training process for new hires.
- Lead the performance review process, including goal setting and development plans for employees and leaders.
- Identify training and development opportunities to enhance leadership capabilities and workforce skills.
- Provide coaching to managers on effective team leadership and communication.
- Oversee benefits administration, including health, 401(k), and leave programs.
- Partner with Accounting on payroll processes to ensure accuracy and compliance (experience with Paylocity is a plus).
- Conduct regular compensation benchmarking to ensure Freeman Boatworks remains competitive in the market.
- Lead and mentor 1 HR Generalist, overseeing day-to-day activities and ensuring accuracy and compliance in HR processes.
Qualifications & Skills
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 1 years in a leadership role managing direct reports.
- Experience supporting a manufacturing workforce of 200 employees.
Language: Bilingual (English/Spanish) is highly preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment law, and compliance.
- Proven ability to lead strategic initiatives while managing day-to-day HR operations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate at all levels.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems (experience with Paylocity preferred), Microsoft Office Suite, and payroll processes.
