Job Overview
Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals have an exciting opportunity for a full time Catering Supervisor to work within the RVI Catering Departments Team of the Year 2022.
The role is based at the Royal Victoria Infirmary Catering Department, working 37.5 hours a week, 5 days over 7 on rotational roster working 2 weekends our of 3. You will be working as a part of a small supervisory team under the direction of a Senior Supervisor to ensure the smooth running of the department. You will be working between 6.00am and 14.00pm and 12.00pm to 20.00pm on a 3-week rotational roster.

Main duties of the job
Your Main Duties Will Include
- Supervising of catering team of up to 70 staff.
- Communication between catering, wards and departments.
- Putting menus through the Catering system and ensure menus are put up for wards.
- Daily work sheets, rosters and managing overtime, holidays and sickness.
- Using in house allocate system for pay and holidays.
- Working in line with Departments HACCP system.
- Ensuring Department meets all health and Hygiene Regulations.
- Monitoring of the patient food belt to ensure quality, presentation and the correct food is served to a patient.
- Interaction with Ward staff.
- Effective use of resources staffing allocation additional hours etc
- Conducting staff appraisals, departmental induction, undertake risk assessment training, moving and handling and first aid training.
- Working with Diet chef to ensure patients dietary needs are met and allergen information is correct.

- NVQ Level 3 Supervisory Leadership Qualification or equivalent
- Intermediate Food Hygiene Qualification Level 2 Allergen Qualification or equivalent
- City & Guilds 706/2 or NVQ 3 (food preparation)

- Basic Information Technology skills to include Word and Excel
- Working in a customer focused environment
- Understand and maintain confidentiality
- Previous experience in large scale catering
- Knowledge of (HACCP) Principles
- Previous experience working in a large scale production kitchen
- Previous Supervisory Management experience
