Our newly expanded Junior Clinical Fellow programme includes the option of full time Emergency Medicine posts as well as 80:20 split posts between Emergency Medicine and a specialist interest.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
Our Junior Clinical Fellow programme includes posts with the exciting opportunity to have 20% of time dedicated to a specialist interest. The specialist interest posts include; pre-hospital emergency medicine, point of care ultrasound, paediatric emergency medicine and clinical research. See more information below.
Whilst working in Emergency Medicine, you will join a team of 29 consultants, 3 specialty doctors, 18 middle grades, 28 other resident doctors, 9 ACPs and over 100 nurses working in the Emergency Department. This post involves a full shift system, involving nights and weekend work. Your primary responsibility will include delivering care to the full spectrum of patients that attend the emergency department. You will have to opportunity to be part of the “trauma team”. You will use and develop your emergency care skills to resuscitate the most critically unwell patients. Resident doctors in the ED are supported by senior resident and higher specialty trainee doctors, and resident on-call ED Consultants, 24/7.

- Clinical history and examination.
- Diagnostic testing.
- Formulating and implementing management plans for patients within sphere of competence in both acute and long-term presentations.
- Procedural skills
- Responsibility for effective communication with other members of the clinical team to ensure the planned management for each patient is carried out.
- Communication with patients and their relatives.

Essential criteria
- Primary Medical Qualification.
- Full GMC registration or eligibility to obtain this within 3 months (or within 6 months for non-EEA applicants).
- Completed Foundation Programme or equivalent.
- At least 6 months previous NHS experience
- ALS or equivalent
- Other relevant qualifications (ATLS, ETC, NLS, APLS).
- Distinctions. Scholarships, prizes, BSc (or equivalent).
Essential criteria
- Good clinical skills, including history, examination, diagnosis formulation, interpreting of core investigations.
- Knows when to appropriately seek assistance from a senior colleague.
- Evidence of skills developed beyond the core requirements.
Essential criteria
- Experience of teaching undergraduate medical students &/or foundation doctors
- Teaching qualifications.
- Experience of teaching multi-professional groups

- Experience of audit projects.
- Involvement in quality improvement project or research project.
