Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen within our busy pro-active Clinical Research department for a dynamic and enthusiastic Information Officer. The role will include the building, reporting and analysis of digital information from various systems including REDCap (Research Electronic Data Capture).
You will be a key player in the Research Informatics Team, helping to accelerate the development and adoption of digital innovation to improve healthcare. You will be responsible for continually reviewing processes and implementing improvements to systems, helping to increase and maximise accuracy and efficiency for research across clinical areas.
An ability to work independently and manage your own time while operating across a range of projects is necessary, while remaining an active team member. An outstanding attention to detail along with the ability to analyse, interpret and compare a range of complex information is essential for this post.
To thrive in this interesting role, you will be a natural team-player with excellent communication and IT skills, as interaction with a wide range of research related staff will be integral to the post.
This role will provide the opportunity to work flexibly from home and across sites within The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Newcastle University.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
- To act as the liaison officer for collecting data for bespoke research projects
- The Information Officer plays a key role in ensuring research systems work effectively
- To provide proactive research support to investigators and teams from feasibility stage to end of study
- The key role is to ensure that all clinical trials are maximising the use of data and information to its full potential
- The post holder will provide data support to the Information Team, Clinicians and Managers of the various facets of National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Infrastructure. This will include:
- putting in place robust office systems and procedures
- undertaking the collection and recording of research data using electronic systems
- assisting in the ability to analyse, investigate and resolve complex data issues
- ensuring research operating policies and procedures are documented and maintained
- Attend informatics meetings including research system and, study set up discussions
