Job Overview
To provide a high standard of physiotherapy care (assessment, treatment and advice) to a complex patient group in a specialist clinical area.
To work as a specialist physiotherapist within the North East Assisted Ventilation Service multidisciplinary team. Working in a range of clinical settings, including inpatient reviews at Newcastle-upon-Tyne Hospitals and other hospitals around the region, out-patient clinics held around the region and domiciliary visits.
Main duties of the job
To work as part of a multi-disciplinary regional specialist team delivering a high standard of physiotherapy care to patients under the care of the service.
Based at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, providing care to patients across the region including Tyne & Wear, Northumberland, County Durham, Teesside and Cumbria.
To be responsible for own continued professional development.
Following a period of in-house assessment, induction and training (as appropriate), to be part of the out-of-hours on-call and weekend rota.

- Degree or equivalent Diploma in Physiotherapy
- State Registered with Health & Care Professions Council
- Driving licence
- Membership of relevant Special Interest groups

- Experience in a rotational physiotherapy post providing a broad range of experience across the core areas of physiotherapy including respiratory
- Clinical experience of non-invasive ventilation, invasive ventilation and cough augmentation
- Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Advanced knowledge of a range of medical conditions and their impact on patient’s respiratory function.

- Post graduate training in relevant area
- Previous experience in a senior physiotherapy post
- Experience of working with patients with long term ventilation or cough augmentation
