The Maintenance Director leads and oversees all maintenance accounts and teams, ensuring efficient operations, high-quality service, and client satisfaction. They direct all activities around hiring, training, and scheduling, while also handling budgets, equipment maintenance, and safety compliance. This role requires strong leadership, operational expertise, and excellent communication skills to maintain smooth workflows and foster long-term client relationships.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance the efficiency and quality of the maintenance division.
- Align maintenance operations with company goals, client expectations, and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with other directors and senior management to drive growth and operational excellence.
Team Management:
- Oversee account managers, operations managers, and maintenance crews by providing clear direction and support.
- Work directly with the account coordinator to delegate administrative tasks and other activities to support the needs of the maintenance teams and account managers.
- Make strategic hiring decisions and create successful onboarding and training initiatives; monitor team performance, set objectives, and conduct regular evaluations.
- Foster a positive work culture and provide ongoing training and development opportunities for the team.
Operational Oversight:
- Manage the scheduling, routing, and execution of all maintenance activities to ensure on-time and high-quality service delivery.
- Oversee the allocation of resources, including equipment, materials, and manpower, to optimize efficiency.
- Address operational challenges, implementing solutions to improve workflows and reduce downtime.
- Manage all maintenance related tasks in Aspire including reviewing completed work orders and outstanding tickets, scheduling oversight, warranty work, timekeeping, EOM tasks, etc.
Client Relationship Management:
- Act as the primary point of contact for high-value or long-term clients, addressing concerns and ensuring client satisfaction as needed.
- Support account managers in building new relationships and maintaining strong client relationships for all accounts.
- Develop and implement strategies to upsell and expand services to improve client retention and grow the maintenance portfolio.
Budget and Financial Management:
- Create and manage the maintenance division’s budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
- Monitor financial performance, including labor, materials, and equipment costs, and identify areas for improvement.
- Provide input on pricing strategies and contract negotiations.
- Manage and inventory all purchased material and equipment, reviewing and approving maintenance purchases and expenses and working with the account coordinator to track all invoices.
Quality Assurance and Safety:
- Establish and enforce quality standards for maintenance services to uphold the company’s reputation.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a safe working environment.
- Conduct regular site visits to assess service quality and team adherence to standards.

Qualifications
- 7 years of experience in landscape maintenance or a related field, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Business Administration, Landscape Management, a related field or equivalent experience.
- Proven ability to manage large teams and oversee complex operations.
- Knowledge of horticultural practices, maintenance equipment, and safety standards.
- Ability to plan, organize, manage, and supervise activities for successful outcomes.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 or equivalent programs, previous experience in Aspire is a plus.
