Job Responsibilities
We seek skilled professionals who can work individually or lead teams under minimal supervision. Job duties include operating articulated diesel equipment, drilling blast holes, placing explosives, constructing concrete forms, installing ground support, and acting as a lead person or relief supervisor.
- Operate Load-Haul-Dump (LHD) units in production settings.
- Assemble, transport, and place explosives for cave development or secondary blasting.
- Operate concrete batching equipment or apply concrete using diesel equipment and manual tools.
- Drill blast holes and/or install ground support using diesel-hydraulic drills.
- Participate in job planning, material ordering, and auditing results.
- Manage explosive distribution from magazines, perform inventories, and verify requisition paperwork.
- Perform special projects and housekeeping tasks using various equipment.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- 2 years of experience in underground mining with experience operating specific equipment and using explosives.
- Completed academic and practical competencies required, including Line of Progression requirements for internal employees.
- Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions in English.
- US citizenship or national status and BATF clearance for handling explosives.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior underground experience at Henderson Mine.
Criteria/Conditions:
- Personal protective equipment is required for work in mine, outdoor, manufacturing, or plant environments.
- Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol-free work environment through pre-employment and random testing.
