Where You Will Work   

Freeport-McMoRan is a leading international metals company with global headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona. Several hundred employees support our operations in accounting and finance, human resources, health and safety, information technology, planning, engineering, and more. Our virtual internship program allows interns to work virtually as well as come together in person when needed at our Collaboration Hub in Phoenix and/or one of our site locations. Interns can work remotely from most states in the U.S., with the exception of California, Connecticut, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma and South Carolina. Additional states may be excluded from virtual work based on business factors. 

Description

Under general supervision, performs accounting and financial activities on accounts and funds in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and Freeport-McMoRan policies and procedures. The position requires the prioritization of substantial workload, multiple projects and specific deadlines; ability to successfully complete delegated tasks with minimal supervision.

Below are the key areas where interns may be assigned:

Cash Management:

• Support cash management activities
• Other Treasury related reports, analysis, and projects
  
  

Credit:

• Credit analysis associated with our customers
• Other Treasury related reports and analysis
• Assignments also to include work on copper and molybdenum (Moly) credit issues and assistance with general Treasury department projects
  
  

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• Full-time student enrolled at an accredited four-year university majoring in Finance, Accounting, or closely related field; OR
• Recent college graduate having graduated within 12 months prior to internship start date with a degree in Finance, Accounting, or closely related field
• General knowledge of financial and accounting concepts and a basic understanding of cash flows and liquidity
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Strong analytical background
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook)
  
  

Criteria/Conditions:

• Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
• Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
• Must be able to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet time-sensitive deadlines
• Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
• Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug / alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as per applicable state laws
  
  

Compensation:

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $20.00 - $24.50/hour. Individual pay rates will be based on level of education and relevant experience.

Freeport-McMoRan has reviewed the jobs at its various office and operating sites and determined that many of these jobs require employees to perform essential job functions that pose a direct threat to the safety or health of the employees performing these tasks or others.
