In operation since 2007, Safford operations is a zero-discharge facility and one of the most sustainable mines in the United States. The operation’s commitment to utilizing advanced technologies and sustainable practices strongly emphasizes safety and environmental stewardship. Located in southeastern Arizona, close to more than 4 million acres of national forest, employees and their families can connect with the great outdoors while fishing, rafting, hiking and more. Description
Under general supervision, provide assistance with a variety of conventional to complex engineering projects to support operations. Assist in layout and design, specification development and preparation, new product evaluation and data collection.
- Assemble data and assist with problem-solving requiring basic theories and engineering fundamentals.
- Utilize computer programs to solve engineering problems.
- Assist with layout and design of a variety of conventional to complex engineering projects.
- Maintain accurate and current project documentation.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements :
Three (3) years of experience in an engineering or technical area relevant to the assignment.Preferred Qualifications :
High School diploma or GEDRelevant Experience : Prior experience working as a GIS Technician or in a similar role is often preferred, especially if the candidate has a strong portfolio showcasing GIS projects they've worked on.Proficiency in GIS Software : Familiarity with GIS software such as ArcGIS or other industry-specific tools is highly preferred.Database Management : Experience in managing and maintaining GIS databases, including data input, quality control, and database administration.Spatial Analysis : Strong skills in spatial analysis, including the ability to perform geoprocessing, spatial queries, and data manipulation.Data Collection : Experience with field data collection methods, such as GPS, remote sensing, or mobile data collection apps.Knowledge of sampling equipment, processes, methods and techniquesAble to conduct preventive maintenance on assigned equipmentSkilled in planning, prioritizing and scheduling daily work assignmentsSkill in safely using, maintaining and repairing specialized equipment to complete assigned duties, including GIS / GPS mapping techniquesAbility to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautionsSkilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazardsAble to communicate effectively both orally and in writingKnowledge of site processes, equipment and infrastructureAble to use a variety of computer software applications, especially Microsoft OfficeCriteria / Conditions :
Work is in an outdoor, mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, talk, hear and see.The work requires the ability to lift moderately heavy to heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform other similar actions frequently during the course of the workday.A valid driver's license is required for this job.Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hart hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug / alcohol-free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as allowed by applicable state lawsWhat We Offer You
The estimated pay range for this role is currently $23.00-$31.00 / hour . This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors.
