What You Will Do
The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $87,000-$121,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. What You Will Do
- Assist in geomechanical project oversight and review, relating to outside consultants, pit slope water control, structural geology, design slope angles and interfacing with mine design and planning.
- Assist in slope stability data collection, analysis and remedial work including slope monitoring data processing, rock strength parameters, geologic structures, slope control blast designs, and slope angle reviews.
- Communicate accurate, timely and relevant slope stability and geomechanical information to mine and site personnel.
- Assist in conducting and communicating the results of inspections of pit walls, stockpiles, and site access roads.
- Proactively seek improvements to the safe mining of mine reserves relating to slope monitoring, slope maintenance, slope and catch bench designs, blasting, geomechanical data acquisition and analyses.
- Perform other duties as required
- Bachelor’s degree in appropriate Engineering discipline and three (3) years engineering experience in an area or areas relevant to assignment, OR
- Master’s degree in appropriate Engineering discipline and two (2) years related experience in engineering.
- Knowledge in the principles and practices of Mining, Mining Engineering and Geotechnical applications in a hard rock open pit mine environment
- Knowledge of appropriate software (MS Office, AutoCAD) and Geotechnical data analysis
- Skilled at researching, analyzing and communicating information of considerable difficulty and develop appropriate conclusions and action plans
- Skilled in managing Engineering projects related to a hard rock open pit setting
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing to a diversely educated audience
- Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety
- Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
- Experience in hard rock mining relating to rock mechanics and rock slope stability
