Purpose: The primary purpose of a Accounting Manager is to assist FreeStar Financial Credit Union in fulfilling our mission to positively impact the lives of our members, team members, and community through making meaningful connections and progressive financial solutions.
This is accomplished by Ensuring accounting operations are in compliance with all regulatory agencies as well as managing the activities of the accounting department and its staff.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
As a Manager, supervise the daily activities of the Accounting Department and its team members.
Establish and maintain an accounting system in accordance with laws, regulations and reporting requirements.
As a Manager, create department work schedule.
In your role as Manager, train and advise department team on new policies and procedures including cross training of duties within the department.
Maintain and direct the operation of the department's third-party vendors/systems.
Post and reconcile depreciation and prepaid accounts. Prepare monthly accrual entries.
Balance subsidiary accounts to the general ledger, and research outstanding items.
Monitor all credit union payables and receivables for proper payment and posting.
Process dormant and escheated accounts.
Complete month, quarter and year end balancing and reconciliations and board reports.
Assist with all external accounting audits including contract and regulatory audits.
Analyze financials and be able to make recommendations as to credit union performance.
Work with all financial policies and procedures while making recommendations on changes that may help overall financial performance of the credit union.
Evaluate the job performance of departmental team members, create and maintain effective working relationships with team.
Assist Human Resources in the hiring process for the department as needed.
Work Schedule:
Standard work schedule will be a 5 day work week Monday - Friday. Scheduling is subject to change at management's discretion based on the operational needs of the credit union.
This is an on-site position. However, a hybrid schedule may be available after a training period, and the ability to work independently is demonstrated.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required.
- Three years of similar or related experience in accounting or financial industry.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
Salary : $65,000 - $70,000
