POSITION DESCRIPTION
Director, Trauma Program – Responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining a cost-effective system of care for trauma patients and their families throughout the continuum of care. He/She works both independently and in collaboration with the trauma program medical director and other members of the health care team and the management staff. He/She is self-directed and self-motivated, plans and conducts work with minimal direction, and reports the progress of work to the director of nursing. He/She assists in promoting optimal trauma care clinical activities, professional and public education, and performance improvement activities. He/she acts as a resource person to all patient care areas regarding nursing care as related to the trauma patient. He/she coordinates care by maintaining effective lines of communication and all concerned patients.
Director, Clinical Education – Responsible for providing continuing education for nurses and other clinical staff to complete requirements or to update clinical nursing skills as new methods and technology become available. He/She is responsible for the organization, scheduling, and presentation of continuing education for nurses and clinical staff via in-person seminars or classes, hands-on demonstrations, and virtual learning, such as webinars or podcasts. Teaching methods vary depending on what type of information they are disseminating.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor Degree or Associate Degree in Nursing or a Diploma from a Nursing Program accredited by NLNAC or CCNE
Current RN license by Texas Board of Nursing
BLS required; ACLS required within first year of employment
EXPERIENCE
Previous supervisory experience recommended; minimum of two years ICU experience recommended
