Training: Provided at Freight Farms HQ in Boston
Schedule: 8-hour shifts on Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting at either 8:00 AM or 9:00 AM, with occasional additional hours as needed.
Job Overview:
Freight Farms is seeking a dedicated Hydroponic Farm Hand to support the daily operations of our onsite research farm located in South Boston, MA. This hands-on role involves seeding, transplanting, harvesting, and maintaining a clean, efficient hydroponic growing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily farm operations such as seeding, transplanting, harvesting, and packaging produce.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the hydroponic farms, including general cleaning, refilling water and nutrient tanks, and calibrating sensors.
- Ensure compliance with food safety and operational protocols.
Qualifications:
- Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
- Ability to stand for up to 8 hours and perform repetitive manual labor.
- Team-oriented mindset with excellent communication skills.
- Must be reliable, independent, and self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
- Comfortable with repetitive and routine work.
- Interest in hydroponics and agricultural technology is a plus but not required.
- Basic knowledge of agricultural growing practices, particularly in controlled environment agriculture, is preferred but not required.
