JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title : Entry Writer
Location : Rockville Centre, NY, USA
Reports to : Brokerage Manager
Job summary:
This position fulfils an integral role in the timely and efficient running of the Import Customs Brokerage Department. The role requires the successful candidate to be able to work independently and without undue supervision (after training) handling both air and ocean shipments to the New York region and throughout the USA.
You will be expected to assist the brokerage manager in the classification of entries. In addition, accounts will be assigned that will need to be handled on an A-Z basis. This includes opening of the files, classification of goods, product coding for FDA goods, transmission of entries, and ability to communicate with airlines/steamship lines and NVOCC’s, issue delivery orders and do ISF for ocean freight shipments. We also expect that you’ll establish a professional working relationship with importer clients.
Key Activities:
· Duties Review:
· Tasks to include but are not limited to:
· ISF Filings
· Classification of Entries
· FDA Product Coding
· Data Processing of Shipments
· Issuance of Delivery Orders including follow up with truckers to secure POD’s
· Problem solve when occasion arises including airline problems, Customs entry 1C problems, release problems in general.
· Liaise with Participating Government Agencies when needed: USDA, FDA, FISH & WILDLIFE, EPA/DOT, LACEY
· Liaise with company network offices and agents in handling accounts including Customs entry and billing
· Billing of all files handled
Technical Experience:
· Knowledge of the Harmonized Tariff Book
· Knowledge of FDA Product Code database,
· Knowledge of Interaction needed with airlines, steamship lines and truckers.
· Mastery of Outlook, Excel, Word
