Position Title: Bus Driver
Job Classification: Operations Staff
Pay Grade: 1 ($34,320 - $45,996)

Location: 2554 Airport Rd, Riverton, WY 82501

Passenger Transportation (65%):

• Operate assigned buses safely and efficiently along designated routes or schedules.
• Transport passengers, including the general public and individuals with disabilities, ensuring safe boarding, transit, and deboarding.
• Assist passengers with boarding and securing mobility devices, ensuring adherence to safety regulations.

Customer Service (15%):

• Provide courteous, respectful, and helpful service to all passengers, addressing questions and concerns professionally.
• Communicate route information, answer questions, and provide assistance to passengers in a friendly and approachable manner.
• Manage and resolve minor passenger issues while maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
• Fare Collection (10%):
• Collect fares from passengers, ensuring accurate payment according to fare schedules.
• Issue transfers or receipts as needed and respond to fare-related questions.
• Secure collected fares according to WRTA guidelines and report discrepancies promptly.

Safety Compliance and Vehicle Inspections (10%):

• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, checking vehicle condition, fluid levels, and equipment functionality.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including seatbelt usage, mobility device securement, and adherence to designated speed limits.
• Report any mechanical issues or maintenance needs promptly to maintain vehicle safety and reliability.

Route and Schedule Adherence (5%):

• Follow assigned routes, schedules, and timing to ensure timely and reliable transportation service.
• Adapt to route changes, road closures, and weather conditions as needed, keeping consistent communication with dispatch.

Other responsibilities may be required as directed by management to support the efficient operation of the organization.

Qualifications:

• Licensing: Possession of a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger Endorsement, or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
• Experience: Experience driving buses or large vehicles preferred; equivalent customer service experience is also beneficial.
• Customer Service Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, with a focus on providing positive passenger interactions.
• Attention to Detail: Ability to follow schedules, safety protocols, and organizational procedures diligently.
• Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills for dispatch coordination and passenger engagement.

Physical Requirements: The Bus Driver position involves prolonged periods of sitting while operating the vehicle, with intermittent stops for assisting passengers with boarding and deboarding. The role requires the ability to lift and assist passengers with mobility devices, as well as the capacity to work in various weather conditions when conducting pre-trip inspections or providing outside assistance.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.50 - $22.11 per hour
