Purpose Statement

To insure that nutritious food is attractively served to the students in the district in accordance with the rules established by the U.S.D.A for the National School Lunch and School Breakfast programs and the Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) regulations. Maintain and complete all W.D.E and U.S.D.A. reporting for compliance purposes.

This job reports to the Business Manager.

Essential Functions

  • Assumes responsibility for preparing and maintaining all reports regarding food services that are required by local, state or federal agencies.
  • Ensures Child Nutrition Program (CNP) compliance with all federal-state and local laws- regulations and policies.
  • Implement efficient management techniques to ensure all records and supporting documentation are maintained in accordance with federal-state and local policies.
  • Interprets to the administration, the staff and the public, as appropriate, federal and state standards and guidelines regarding the school food service and the school food program.
  • Develop an annual cafeteria budget to meet the needs of each school year.
  • Supervises the point of sale program for accuracy.
  • Establishes work performance standards, work schedules and basic job descriptions.
  • Determines the personnel requirements for the department; interviews and recommends persons for hiring or advancement when positions are available. Recommends discipline actions or dismissal when necessary.
  • Serves as first level of administration in grievance procedures originating with employees in the food service department.
  • Supervise the overall safety and sanitation program in the school food service stations.
  • Purchases food, supplies, and equipment and develops procedures for proper receiving, storage and distribution of the same.
  • Develop cost-effective menus consistent with principles of good nutrition and supervises the preparation and serving of menus at all schools including lunch and breakfast programs.
  • Receives suggestions from student groups regarding preferred foods and meals, and makes every effort to incorporate such suggestions into the food service program in a manner consistent with good nutritional standards.
  • Keeps informed on new nutritional trends or concepts and on new developments in equipment that will improve and upgrade the school nutritional program.
  • Takes immediate action to promptly and effectively implement corrective actions.
  • Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as directed by the Business Manager or Superintendent.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree or above in food service management, nutrition or dietician required.
  • Experience in Child Nutrition Program or institutional food preparation and kitchen management.
  • Personnel and management skills.
  • Recordkeeping- math and accounting skills
  • Knowledge of computer usage and applications- as well as various office machines and telecommunications equipment.
  • Flexibility in work hours as required to fulfill duties.

Exempt employee

Salary dependent on experience and consideration of the board of directors.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $49,373.00 - $51,376.00 per year
