Water Safety Instructor (Level 1)
Location: Riverton Aquatic Center
Reports to: Riverton Aquatic Center Supervisor and/or Lead RAC Staff

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 15 years of age
- Certified Water Safety Instructor – including First Aid and CPR for Professional Rescuers
- Excellent communication and people skills, comfortable working with students of all ages and abilities
POSITION SUMMARY
To assist the public in making use of the Aquatic Center a pleasant and positive experience.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Instruction of assigned levels of Learn-to-Swim Program.
- Supervise and manage assigned students at all times while teaching lessons. Also responsible for ensuring each student is accounted for and returned to parent or guardian after each class.
- Assisting in preparing facilities for lessons, picking up and putting away any instructional equipment, and setting pool back up for open recreation swimming.
- Complete all required Red Cross records and reports and submit them to the Lead RAC Staff, RAC Assistant Supervisor, and/or Aquatic Center Director in a timely manner.
- Fill out certificates and levels of achievement for assigned students, and communicate with parents and students on progress and/or advancement as required.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as policies and regulations, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine correspondence.
EVALUATION
Performance on this job will be evaluated by the Aquatic Center Director in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of certified or classified personnel.
SALARY SCHEDULE
This position will be paid according to the approved Classified Professional Salary Schedule.
$12.00-$12.75

As assigned by the supervisor.
