Employment:  Full Time, 3:30 p.m. - 12:30 a.m.

 

Location: High School

                       

Compensation:    

  • $19.68 - 21.60 starting, per hour, depending on experience.
  • If bilingual in English/Spanish, starting range is $21.60 - $23.75 per hour.

JOB DESCRIPTION

DEPARTMENT: Maintenance and Custodial

 

JOB TITLE: Custodian Supervisor

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Education Level:

  • High School Diploma or GED or any equivalent combination of experience and education which provides the proper knowledge, skills and abilities.

Certification/Licensure:

  • None required
  • First Aid/CPR certification desired
  • Valid Nebraska Drivers License

Experience Desired:

  • Some experience in custodial work and supervising others is preferred

Other Requirements:

  • Considerable practical knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in custodial and maintenance work
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance and care of heating and cooling and other building systems
  • Ability to make operating adjustments to various building systems
  • Ability to assist in maintaining records and preparing reports
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting and heavy manual labor
  • Ability to work effectively with administrators, faculty, students, associates, and assigned personnel

 

REPORTS TO: Building Maintenance Supervisor, Building Administrator, and General Operations Administrator

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The essential functions of each employee’s position includes (1) regular, dependable in-person attendance on the job; (2) the ability to perform the identified tasks and to possess and utilize the identified knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the identified work activities; and (3) the ability to perform the physical requirements of their specific job description.

 

Basic:

  • Work involves manual, semiskilled, and supervisory duties, plus cleaning and assisting in the oversight of the cleaning and maintenance school facilities. Work includes implementing the cleaning schedule developed by the building maintenance supervisor and assisting in the supervising as well as participating in the cleaning and minor maintenance activities. Work is carried out in keeping with approved routines, established standards, and special instructions. Work is evaluated for maintenance of standards and adherence to instructions, and review of work is made through inspections and reviews of reports.

Frequent:

  • Assist in coordinating maintenance needs with school activities
  • Open buildings and prepare for classes or events outside regular school hours close and secure buildings after events
  • Assist in building inspections and handle after hours security calls
  • Perform maintenance and repair on lockers, lighting, and other building systems
  • Sweep, vacuum, wax, mop, and buff floors; dust and clean offices, classrooms, cafeteria, gym, locker rooms, auditorium, and other rooms; collect and remove trash; wash walls and windows
  • Move furniture and equipment; set up classrooms and gym; take down and store equipment
  • Assist in clean up and tear down of outdoor sporting activities
  • Pick up and deliver supplies when needed
  • Perform related work as required

Inside-Outside-Both: Both

 

Climatic Environment: Work environment is primarily in a heated/air-conditioned building, however some buildings are not air-conditioned. Outside elements are subject to weather conditions.

 

Hazards:  Communicable diseases, classrooms, buildings, playground, janitorial equipment and supplies.
