Job Summary
The Director of Nursing (DON) is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing the nursing staff and ensuring the highest standards of patient care within our facility. This position requires a dynamic individual with extensive experience in nursing management, particularly in hospice care and nursing home environments. The DON will manage nursing systems, supervise staff, and ensure compliance with medical records and Medicare regulations while fostering a culture of excellence in patient care.
Duties
- Lead and manage the nursing department, ensuring effective staffing and training of nursing personnel.
- Oversee patient care activities to ensure compliance with established standards and regulations.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures related to nursing administration and patient care.
- Supervise the maintenance of accurate medical records in accordance with Medicare guidelines.
- Conduct regular assessments of patient needs and coordinate care plans accordingly.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes and improve service delivery.
- Monitor quality assurance programs to ensure adherence to best practices in hospice care.
- Provide mentorship and support to nursing staff, fostering professional development and growth.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse (RN) license with a minimum of 5 years of experience in nursing management or administration.
- Proven experience in hospice care, nursing home settings, or similar environments is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Medicare regulations, MDS processes, and medical record management systems.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and supervise diverse teams effectively.
- Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail in managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with staff, patients, and families.
- Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
