Elementary Teacher

 

 

Description & Details

Cotopaxi Consolidated Schools, located in School District Fremont RE-3, is currently seeking an Elementary Teacher to provide direct instructional services to students. This is a full-time, or 1.0 FTE, position with benefits for the 2024-2025 school year.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide direct instruction in the classroom and community to students.
  • Work as a part of a teacher team in the development and direction of the program including supervision of paraprofessionals and coordination with related service staff, employers, and classroom teachers.
  • Work with parents and agency personnel in coordinating needs for each student.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.

Qualifications:  

  1. Must have a valid Colorado Certification/license - Elementary certification or ability to obtain licensure.
  2. Experience and/or knowledge working with students.
  3. Experience and/or knowledge in the implementation of inclusion experiences for students within the school setting and the community.
  4. Ability to coordinate and implement direct services utilizing functional curriculum, transitional planning, and the use of augmentative communication systems and systematic instruction techniques.
  5. Ability to work as part of a teacher team in the development and direction of the program including supervision of paraprofessionals and coordination with related services staff and teachers within the school.
  6. Ability to work with parents and agency personnel in coordinating needs for each student.
  7. Creative and positive communication skills with the ability to problem solve effectively.

 

Experience and/or Knowledge: 

  • Working with students of all ages and needs.
  • Supervising instructional paraprofessionals to teach small groups using research-based programs with fidelity.
  • Collaborating with service staff to provide professional development to paraprofessionals and to dialogue about student learning and meeting goals.
  • Collaborating with Certified classroom teachers to provide strategies of instruction, modifications, and/or accommodations for students on an IEP
  • Co-teaching or team teaching through the inclusion model
  • Intervention support in small groups outside of the classroom
  • Other duties as assigned

  4. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  5. Ability to be on feet up to eight hours every day. The work is mostly walking and standing with periods of sitting. 
  6. Typical positions require workers to lift and carry up to 50 pounds; climb stairs, bend and crouch; reach, hold, grasp and turn objects; use fingers to operate computer or typewriter keyboards; and feel the shape, size and temperature of objects. 
  7. The work requires the ability to speak normally, to use normal or aided vision and hearing, and to detect odors. identify colors, see, write, count, read, speak, analyze, alphabetize, perceive depth, operate a motor vehicle, and operate motor equipment. 
  8. Conditions include working inside and outside, working around machines with moving parts and moving objects, working closely with others, working alone, and traveling by car, van, bus.
