Description
FASNY is seeking an experienced and passionate educator to join our lower school faculty as an English teacher. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching literature and writing. This position requires the ability to engage and inspire students, fostering a deep understanding in the discipline and promoting critical thinking skills. This person will collaborate with all members of the school community to meet the needs of students and to promote and live by the school’s mission and philosophy.
Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development: Design, plan, and implement an engaging and rigorous English curriculum, aligning with the English Department standards and objectives.

Classroom Instruction: Deliver high-quality instruction that caters to diverse learning styles, ensuring students are actively involved in the learning process. Use modern teaching methods and technologies to enhance student understanding.

Assessment and Evaluation: Develop and administer assessments that effectively measure student progress and understanding. Provide constructive feedback to students and communicate progress to parents regularly.

Differentiated Instruction: Tailor instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students, providing additional support or challenges as necessary. Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Professional Development: Stay current with educational trends. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.

Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues, department members, and other stakeholders to promote a cohesive and integrated learning experience. Participate in interdisciplinary projects and activities.

Parental Communication: Maintain open and regular communication with parents regarding student progress, upcoming assignments, and any concerns. Participate in parent-teacher conferences as needed.
Salary based on experience; expected range from 50,000 - 85,000
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required. Master's degree preferred.

Experience in teaching Lower School English at general education and honors level preferred.

Strong classroom management and organizational skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Enthusiasm for fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
