Job Description:
French Broad Paving is seeking an experienced and motivated Asphalt Crew Foreman and Operator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in asphalt paving, construction, and leadership, with a passion for ensuring quality work, safety, and team efficiency.
As an Asphalt Crew Foreman and Operator, you will oversee and lead the asphalt crew in various paving and maintenance projects, ensuring that all tasks are completed in a timely, safe, and high-quality manner. You will also operate paving equipment, such as pavers, rollers, and other machinery required for asphalt installation and repair.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise an asphalt crew, ensuring productivity, quality, and safety on all job sites.
- Operate asphalt paving machinery, such as pavers, rollers, and milling machines, with precision and attention to detail.
- Manage and delegate tasks to crew members, ensuring work is completed efficiently and according to specifications.
- Review project plans and specifications to ensure that all work is completed accurately and on schedule.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
- Collaborate with project managers and other supervisors to meet project deadlines and requirements.
- Conduct daily safety meetings and maintain a safe work environment.
- Monitor material quantities and report any shortages or issues to management.
- Train and mentor new crew members on equipment operation, safety procedures, and job expectations.
Requirements:
- 5 years of experience in asphalt paving and/or construction.
- Proven experience in operating asphalt paving equipment (e.g., pavers, rollers).
- Strong knowledge of asphalt materials, techniques, and industry standards.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, project plans, and specifications.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong commitment to safety and following safety procedures.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to lift heavy materials and perform physical tasks as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Paving equipment and modern technology in the paving industry.
- OSHA certification or other relevant safety certifications.
