Account Executive, Dept Stores, Womens
Reporting To: Director of Sales
Location: New York Showroom
Job Summary
The Department Store Account Executive is client-facing, responsible for addressing customer needs and French Connection’s ability to meet them. They manage the entire sales cycle from beginning to end while meeting critical path timeline and budget expectations. They take a proactive rather than reactive approach, seizing opportunities to drive sales and profitability while maintaining the vendor/client relationship. Should be ambitious, result-driven and motivated to manage accounts autonomously.
Responsibilities
- Maintain relationships with current buyers while identifying potential to build new business within other categories and departments.
- Manage stores, e-commerce and drop ship businesses to create one seamless omnichannel customer experience.
- Constantly strive to maximize sales and profit potential by improving quality of customer experience by building account-specific product strategies.
- Work toward seasonal and annual shipping budgets while minimizing dilution. Liaise with planning team to drive business in-season, marrying client and FC goals through effective plan management.
- Utilize hindsight analysis to apply each account’s historical performance to future success.
- Check in regularly with buying and planning teams to understand how FC business compares to their totals, seizing opportunities and creatively addressing problems in a timely manner.
- Analyze profitability and manage markdowns monthly. Liaise with planning and management on crucial findings.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of wholesale experience.
- Solid understanding of retail math and MS Excel.
- Strong knowledge of contemporary retail landscape and brand competitors.
- Excellent verbal and written communication as well as negotiation and analytical skills.
- Must be able to grasp and appropriately address client needs via creative problem solving.
- The ideal candidate is an independent creative thinker who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
- Travel ability and driver’s license are required.
