Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced Machinist to join our team on 1st shift. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating manual and/or CNC machines, including lathes, mills, grinders, and machining centers. This role requires a deep understanding of machine shop theory, shop mathematics, material maintainability, and layout techniques.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate various machine tools to machine parts from start to finish.
- Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances.
- Verify dimensions and finishes using inspection equipment (e.g., micrometers, height gauges, and gauge blocks).
- Select, align, and secure fixtures, tools, and materials for machining.
- Follow setup requirements and operation sequences outlined on routers.
- Perform first-piece inspection and collaborate with the quality department for approval.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including assisting with machine maintenance and repair.
- Work with manufacturing engineering and quality teams to address and improve processes or quality concerns.
- Enhance efficiency and productivity using lean methods and participating in continuous improvement activities.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with CNC and/or manual machining (turning, milling, and grinding).
- Proficient in reading blueprints, CAD drawings, sketches, and written instructions.
- Preferred experience in a job shop environment with rapid changeovers and short cycle times.
- Strong math, organizational, and multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize and adapt to shifting priorities.
- Self-motivated with a commitment to precision, quality, and collaboration.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screening.
- Fluent in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
- Work may involve exposure to moving mechanical parts and airborne particles.
- Moderate noise levels typical of a manufacturing setting.
- Frequent standing, walking, climbing stairs, and regular use of hands for tools and materials handling.
- Ability to lift and move weights up to 50 lbs.
- Requires frequent talking and listening during work.
