SUMMARY : Pool technician is required to install, service and repair swimming pool equipment, such as water filters, pumps, and water systems. Responsibilities Involve mixing chemicals, checking the water, and maintaining the right balance of chlorine and pH Performs routine maintenance services. Other tasks include inspecting drainage and other plumbing systems for compliance with local and national regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Monitors, handles, and installs all chemicals for swimming pools.
• Performs cleaning of swimming pools.
• Performs minor repairs to swimming pools.
• Responsible for ordering and maintaining inventory of chemicals, parts and supplies as needed.
• Works with skilled plumbers, painters, carpenters, electricians or other tradesmen and grounds employees where some knowledge of the basic operations and methods involved is necessary.
• Repairs fences & gates.
• Does semi-skilled painting work.
• Makes minor adjustments and keeps equipment in good repair.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Adheres to safety standards as established by Frenchman’s Creek.
• Performs heavy manual labor, custodial, and grounds work as directed.
• Installs pipes and fixtures, such as sinks and toilets, for water, gas, steam, air, or other liquids.
• Installs supports for pipes, equipment, and fixtures prior to installation.
• Assembles fittings and valves for installation.
• Modifies length of pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing materials as needed for a building.
• Uses saws and pipe cutters as necessary.
• Installs heating and air-conditioning systems, including water heaters.
• Collaborates with contractors, construction workers, electricians, pipefitters, and steamfitters in installing and repairing plumbing.
• Tests plumbing systems for leaks and other problems.
• Analyses problems and identifies appropriate tools and materials for repair.
• Chooses plumbing materials, location, and intended uses of building.
• Follows health and safety standards and complies with building codes.
• Performs inspections of plumbing systems to identify and replace worn parts.
• Installs, maintains, and repairs pipes and fixtures associated with heating, cooling, water distribution, and sanitation systems.
• Fixes domestic appliances, such as dishwashers.

OTHER SKILLS

Proper swimming pool cleaning methods and techniques and use of swimming pool chemicals.

Ability to :

EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent.

One year experience in general swimming pool maintenance, including the handling desired.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Good spoken and written English skills.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES REGISTRATIONS

National Swimming Pool Foundation Certification as a Certified / Spa Operator

Indoor / outdoor environment subject to changing conditions and temperatures exceeding 90 degrees at times.
