What are the responsibilities and job description for the Acute Dialysis Charge Nurse position at Fresenius Medical Care?
PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
The Inpatient Services Charge Nurse assumes a temporary responsibility for the Inpatient Services RN, with duties specified by the Program Manager.
This role ensures proper Acute Dialysis Services and treatments within assigned hospitals/facilities by coordinating, scheduling, and directing Acute Patient Care staff. It also involves performing Acute treatments as needed or directed by the Program manager.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position requires a high level of knowledge to perform various tasks, including but not limited to:
- Serving as a subject matter expert and resource for staff members on assigned Inpatient Center treatment floor.
- Independently managing daily work, with general instructions on newly introduced assignments, and escalating issues to the Program Manager as necessary.
- Coordinating and scheduling direct patient care staff to provide coverage of Acute Dialysis treatments in contracted hospitals/facilities.
- Maintaining and reviewing the daily TAP tool for all hospitals/facilities under supervision and submitting results to the Program Manager.
- Ensuring Acute treatments are performed according to established policies and procedures, and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Monitoring ACES compliance on a daily basis.
- Performing Quality Assessment and Improvement (QAI) Program audits to ensure quality patient care and Joint Commission compliance.
- Participating in QAI meetings to report activities.
- Assessing daily patient care needs and communicating concerns to attending physicians, implementing changes as directed.
- Performing Acute treatments according to current Charge Nurse Guidance recommendations and overseeing dialysis-related medical and emergency functions.
- Communicating with healthcare teams to interpret, adjust, and complete patient care plans efficiently and safely.
- Coordinating technical staff to ensure equipment maintenance, repairs, infection control measures, and supply management.
- Serving as liaison between administrative staff and the Program Manager.
- Practicing cost containment strategies in medical supply inventory and personnel management.
- Reviewing and complying with the Code of Business Conduct, company policies, local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
- Assisting with projects assigned by the Program Manager.
