As a Charge Nurse, you will play a vital role in supporting Fresenius Medical Care North America's mission, vision, and customer service philosophy. You will adhere to the FMCNA Compliance Program, ensuring quality patient care while maintaining cost-effective clinical operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care: Provide day-to-day guidance, support, and direction to direct patient care staff, ensuring continuity of care and promoting patient safety.
- Staff Management: Participate in department staffing, hiring, firing, and disciplinary actions, as well as recommending disciplinary action to the Facility Administrator.
- Clinical Operations: Ensure compliance with all company and facility-approved procedures and policies, as well as regulations set forth by state and federal agencies.
- Training and Education: Maintain knowledge in current practices related to dialysis principles and techniques, train and orient staff as necessary, and promote compliance to OSHA programs.
- Emergency Response: Assume primary responsibility in emergency situations, assess patient needs, and implement changes in patient care/treatment as directed.
You will work closely with the Facility Administrator to ensure effective communication, coordinate Charge Nurse duties, and supervise all documentation of patient information. Your expertise will be sought out by staff members for guidance and support.
In this role, you will also be responsible for:
- Coordinating Patient Care Assignments: Assess daily patient care needs and develop and distribute patient care assignments accordingly.
- Medication Administration: Administer medications to patients per physician's orders.
- Equipment Maintenance: Supervise the safe and effective use of all equipment involved in direct patient care.
- Quality Assurance: Attend and participate in monthly Quality Assurance meetings.
This position requires a strong background in medical/surgical nursing, preferably with experience providing clinical nursing care to dialysis patients. A minimum of 12 months of nursing experience, plus 6 months of specialized experience, is required.
