">As a Hemodialysis Therapy Specialist with Fresenius Medical Care, you will play a vital role in providing safe and effective dialysis therapy for assigned patients. This involves working as part of the Inpatient Services Hemodialysis Health Care team to ensure seamless patient care.
">- You will function under the direct supervision of a Hemodialysis Registered Nurse to provide patient care in the dialysis suite.
- Responsibilities include reporting and documenting all new and unusual incidents, information, complaints, or problems to the RN.
- Promote and assist in maintaining a safe and clean working environment, supporting FMCNA's commitment to quality enhancement and actively participating in process improvement activities.
- With documented competency and proficiency, set up and prime equipment for renal replacement therapies as directed by the Fresenius Nurse.
- Ensure the dialysis machine has been set up, tested, and found safe for treatment in accordance with manufacturer instructions and company policies.
- Welcome assigned patients and inquire about their well-being since their last treatment, reporting any complaints or observations to the FMCNA RN.
- Obtain necessary pre- and post-treatment vital signs and weight, reporting unusual findings to the FMCNA RN.
- Report difficulties in cannulation to the FMCNA RN as permitted by state requirements, or unusual findings to the FMCNA RN.
- Accurately document information related to patient treatment, including hospital Electronic Medical System (EMS) and Acute Care Electronic System (ACES).
- Calculate and enter individual patient dialysis machine programming for Ultrafiltration (UF) goals, treatment time, Sodium (Na) modeling, and UF modeling as prescribed.
- Ensure appropriate safety alarms are enabled, including narrow venous limits (NVL 160).
- Collect, label specimens, and ensure timely delivery to the laboratory per facility policy.
- Evaluate intradialytic problems and provide intervention as prescribed by physician order or directed by FMCNA RN.
- Monitor patient response to dialysis therapy and report any unusual findings to the FMCNA RN.
- Obtain vital signs prior to reinfusion, performing all relevant functions necessary for discontinuation of treatment documentation.
- Report any change or unusual findings to the FMCNA RN.
- Evaluate patient prior to termination of venous access - standing and sitting blood pressures prior to termination of venous access.
- Apply hemostasis and dressings as required.
- Review and comply with the Code of Business Conduct and all applicable company policies and procedures, local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
- Assist with various projects as assigned by direct supervisor or supervising RN.
- Other duties as assigned.
