Job Title: Patient Care Technician
Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Patient Care Technician to join our team. As a PCT, you will play a vital role in providing patient-centered care to individuals undergoing dialysis treatment.
Description
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and possess a strong commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care to individuals undergoing dialysis treatment
- Assist with setup and operation of hemodialysis machines
- Monitor patients' vital signs and report any unusual findings to the nurse supervisor
- Conduct vascular access evaluations and report any abnormalities to the nurse supervisor
- Administer heparin as delegated or as allowed by state law
- Initiate and terminate dialysis treatments according to prescribed orders
- Prepare and document patient charts and other relevant paperwork
- Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities to enhance patient satisfaction and outcomes
Requirements:
- Certification as a Patient Care Technician or equivalent experience
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred
- Ability to lift and move patients and equipment up to 30 pounds
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to delivering high-quality patient care
Working Conditions:
The work environment is characteristic of a healthcare facility with air temperature control and moderate noise levels. May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases/materials.
Education:
- Center for Medicaid/Medicare Services (CMS)-approved state and/or national certification
- High School diploma or G.E.D. and must meet certification requirements within the required state or CMS timeline
