PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
Directs, organizes, and controls project management activities in accordance with established Operational Excellence (OPEX) goals for Fresenius Medical Care. Provides senior project management leadership to OPEX Group and the enterprise ensuring ownership, accountability, and governance of critical project efforts. Conducts formal portfolio management review of all projects assessing risk to timeline, budget, and customer satisfaction. Recommends options to adjust project priorities to optimize resources and manage project portfolio risk. Project manages multiple projects and facilitates activities of suppliers, developers, and interdepartmental relationships to ensure that predetermined specifications and timelines are met. Provides leadership to continuously improve the PM function by encouraging process improvement including the implementation and updating of methodologies and best practices where appropriate. Supports Fresenius Medical Cares mission, vision, core values and customer service philosophy. Adheres to the Fresenius Medical Care Compliance Program, including following all regulatory and division/company policy requirements.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for directing the project management activities and functions to the OPEX Group.
- Provides senior project management leadership and direction of large critical projects.
- Provides project management guidance and mentoring for PMO staff and other OPEX project managers.
- Maintains portfolio of projects. Analyzes and communicates status and risks while recommending corrective action.
- Implements processes and methodologies to boost efficiency and continuously improve on project delivery in terms of time, budget and customer satisfaction.
- Provides project management guidance to project managers outside the PMO.
- Develops staff of PMO project managers to lead and facilitate major projects.
- Develops and implements a consistent and standardized project management process and methodology.
- Organizes appropriate training programs regarding project management techniques.
- Establishes, maintains and communicates best practices around project management techniques.
- Directs the selection, implementation, and support of appropriate project management tools for use on all projects.
- Provides overall direction and guidance to assigned project managers, department heads and staff in the management, development, and maintenance of relevant programs, projects, and services.
- Develops and adheres to departmental budget.
- Leads cross-functional quality team efforts to improve project management related processes.
- Prepares management activity and progress reports on all department activities.
- Provides direct formal supervision to department managers and staff establishing mutual goals and expectations at the beginning of the appraisal year, providing continual informal performance feedback during the year as well as being responsible for the formal annual performance appraisal process for the employees.
- Responsible for functions related to recruiting, hiring, firing and disciplinary action for the department staff.

- Bachelor's Degree
- Master's Degree preferred
- PMP-PMI Required
- 10 years of experience in project management required which includes 5 years in a senior management role with a Bachelor's Degree OR 6 years of experience with a Master's degree.
- Proven track record managing complex projects and leadership of technical staff.
- Proven management and business skills.
- Proven knowledge of Project Management methodologies.
- Proven leadership, organizational, and planning skills.
- PMO knowledge and experience.
- Experience with Project Management tools and best practices.
- Experience with application development and software development life cycle methodologies.
