Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to patients undergoing hemodialysis treatments, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the process.
- Assess patient needs and develop individualized care plans to address their unique requirements.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure seamless coordination of patient care and efficient treatment delivery.
- Administer medications as prescribed, documenting all medical interactions and interventions.
- Initiate emergency response measures as necessary and provide critical care to patients experiencing complications during treatment.
- Serve as a resource and mentor to new staff members, sharing knowledge and expertise to enhance overall team performance.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
The Hemodialysis Nurse is expected to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment that requires flexibility and adaptability. The position involves frequent standing, lifting, and moving of patients, as well as exposure to infectious diseases and materials.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with current state licensure and CPR certification.
- Minimum 9 months of experience as a Registered Nurse, preferably in chronic/acute hemodialysis settings.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to lift up to 200 lbs. and stand for prolonged periods, with occasional bending and twisting required.
Supervision and Leadership
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing Patient Care Technicians/LPNs/LVNs/RNs, ensuring that they receive proper training and support to deliver high-quality patient care.
Education and Licensure
- Current appropriate state licensure.
- Successful completion of CPR BLS Certification.
- Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which he or she is employed.
