Warehouse Supervisor

Purpose of Position:

This position will be responsible for assisting the General Manager in the management of the warehouse operations, in order to achieve operational levels and service goals. Assist in the implementation of the processes and systems that will ensure customer expectations for product quality and service reliability are exceeded and will be held accountable for achieving overall operating results consistent with individual and company performance goals. This position will also assist in the banana, avocado, and mango ripening process. Assisting the General Manager in determining product disposition and perform quality and color checks.

Accountabilities:

• Assist with the assessment of daily and weekly output, identifying trends in productivity, and managing the allocation of people and equipment, to address day-to-day variations in demand and capacity, across assigned warehouses.
• Assist with the training of employees and ensure they are provided ongoing skills development and coaching, to improve job performance.
• Assist with any of the maintenance and implementation of safe work practices and conditions, to ensure a safe environment for associates and visitors, in accordance with company policies and health and safety regulations.
• Assist with the review and evaluation of performance of assigned employees. Address performance gaps, and take corrective action, as needed.
• Assist with the assessment of business conditions, evaluate business needs and take action to address short-term opportunities to improve service, reduce costs, and enhance operational results.
• Assist with the scheduling of work teams and initiate short and long-term plans with other managers and supervisors.
• Assist with the cycle counts of product inventories and ensure that all inventory is accurately accounted for, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Assist in identifying gaps in effectiveness of work processes and worker performance, contributing to errors in inventory management and product losses (i.e. shrink), taking corrective action as needed.
• Assist with the management of the development of individual and team performance improvement goals, which support the achievement of company objectives.
• Assist with the ripening process and maintain Bananas, avocados, and mangos according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Assist with the quality inspections, sort and grade Bananas, avocados, and mangos upon arrival.
• Assist with the monitoring of stock and make appropriate arrangements to ensure timely deliveries.
• Process paperwork and maintain inventory and rotation of product.
• Ensure inspection logs are maintained daily.
• Assist with the location’s pest control and sanitation program.
• Assist with the management of, and employee training for, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
• Effectively communicate with other Managers, Supervisors and other location leadership and teams on production issues and changes.
• Special projects as assigned.

Minimum Skills Required:

• Associate's degree in a related field, from an accredited institution, and/or equivalent work experience.
• At least 2 to 3 years prior experience in a similar role.
• Proficient knowledge of supply chain strategies and distribution systems.
• Organized and able to multitask
• Good organization, and analytical skills
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills
• Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely while adapting communications content to level of audience
• Experience with PC spreadsheet and database applications
• Ability to work as a team player
• Able to lead a group and facilitate training
• Innovation: ability to use creativity and judgment to resolve problems
• Strong leadership capabilities
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs (i.e. Excel, Word and Outlook, etc.).
