What are the responsibilities and job description for the Atlas Machine Operator position at Fresh Express?
Atlas Machine Operator Summary:
The AMO position is responsible for the operation of assigned packaging equipment while meeting and exceeding all safety, quality, and efficiency standards.
Essential Daily Tasks of Atlas Machine Operator:
- Communicate and understand Production schedule.
- Operate complex Atlas slicing equipment with manual controls and basic mechanical adjustments and perform changeovers as required.
- Responsible for setting up Atlas machines using standard guidelines.
- Adhere to written technical procedures as necessary for the safe operation and care of equipment in order to produce a quality product.
- Maintain a clean and organized working environment.
- Ensure that the products are safe and meet the customer specifications.
- Communicate quality issues of raw product to the appropriate personnel.
- Responsible for the proper and accurate completion of all documentation including but not limited to Quality checks, Downtime reports and Setup checklist.
- Perform operational preventive maintenance when required.
- Perform change out of normal items including but not limited to cutting blades, coring rings and peeler blades.
- Follow and complete the daily production schedule, including changes that may occur during the course of the shift.
- Responsible for meeting machine efficiency and effectiveness which is measured in downtime percentage, bags per minute, leaker percentage, rework percentage, film shrink percentage and bag weights.
- Able to meet daily production standards.
- Able to perform Line Start-up within one week of beginning AMO Training.
- Able to perform Line Start-up and Daily Operations with two weeks of beginning AMO Training.
- Able to perform Line Start-up, Daily Operations and Install Peeling Blades within three weeks of beginning AMO Training.
- Gain complete understanding of the entire production line within 4 weeks of beginning AMO training.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Capable of working in a cold (34 degrees F) and wet environment.
Essential Skills / Qualifications:
- Speak, read and write English.
- Have excellent problem solving skills while working in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to pass drug test and background check.
- Able to lift 50 lbs.2. Stand for the duration of the shift (10 hours or more)
- Able to bend continuously throughout the shift
- Able to work in a noisy, wet and cold environment of approximately 36 degrees Fahrenheit
- Perform repetitive motions for the duration of the shift
- Able to reach with hands and arms to check product
