Food Safety Role & Responsibility:
As an individual, the incumbent must understand the Food Safety Statement, complete the
required training, perform work assignments in accordance with training and display an
acceptable level of competency with all Quality Assurance/Safety/Security policies and training
requirements. Areas of food safety training will include, but are not limited to, GMP, HACCP,
facility security, visitor policy and mandatory safety training.
The individual must also request additional and/or refresher training if he or she feels that it is
needed to effectively perform requirements in specific areas of responsibility.
Summary:
Maintenance Assistant is responsible for safely maintaining, repairing, replacing and assist in
modifying all processing, packaging and facility equipment with optimal quality and efficiency.
Job Function Statements - Essential Functions:
1. Repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment, such as motors, pumps,
conveyors, belts, fans, air conditioners, etc.
2. Disassemble machines, repair or replace broken parts.
3. Adjust functional parts of mechanical devices as necessary.
4. Clean and lubricate parts.
5. Order replacement parts.
6. Inspect completed repairs.
7. Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
8. Requisitions new parts and equipment.
9. The employee is required to lift up to 75 pounds.
10. The employee will be required to learn and change blades as required.
11. The employee will be required to learn the Fresh Rinse and Prominent systems.
12. The employee is required to wear cut resistant gloves, hardhat, hearing protection and steel
toed shoes and follow all GMP rules and regulations.
13. Employee will complete any and all duties/work as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor
or Maintenance Manager
Required Qualifications/Skills:
1. Ability to apply basic skills and develop advanced skills using tools and equipment
appropriate for the position or specialization.
2. Resolves routine questions and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher levels.
3. Works under direct supervision and follows standard procedures and written instructions to
accomplish assigned tasks.
4. Physical Requirements - required to stand for extended periods of time (duration of the shift,
8 hours or more); walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch;
bend continuously; or crawl. The incumbent must be able to climb stairs and ladders or step
up onto a platform several times throughout the shift; and is occasionally required to sit. The
employee must be able to push/pull/lift and/or move 75 pounds. The incumbent must operate
light motorized equipment, hand and power tools skillfully and safely. The incumbent
5. Work Environment - the employee is exposed to wet/cold conditions of 34 - 36 degrees and
also at times hot conditions; high, precarious places (ex: 25 feet above ground level for
extended hours); and outside weather conditions (rooftop). The noise level in the work
environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud, which may require hearing protection.

7. Ability to work with computer programs such as Word and Excel
8. Must possess basic math skills - fractions, decimals, percentages, and the metric system
9. Operate our CMMS system and demonstrate 100% functionality in order to complete work
orders as well as log corrective maintenance issues in the system.
10. Ability to be trained and learn new tasks.
Other Desired Qualifications/Skills:
1. Ability to use a multi-meter and other measurement instruments.
2. Assist in fabricating and modifying parts using shop equipment; utilizing sanitary welding
equipment procedures
3. Ability to become certified in the use of forklifts, aerial lifts, and/or boom lifts.
4. Ability to read and understand manuals to establish facts and draw conclusions
5. Food processing industry experience
Experience:
1 - 2 years of experience in a similar position or specialization preferred.
Education/Training:
High School diploma or equivalency required; technical or vocational maintenance training
preferred.
