Program Summary :

The Law Program teaches young people about their rights and responsibilities under the law, while building community with FLY staff and volunteers. Classes are held in locked facilities, schools, and the community. Facilitators provide three months of group mentoring, a field trip to a local university, a mock court trial, and a program graduation ceremony.

Law Program Associate Manager - Position Summary :

This position oversees and manages all Law Program community and school sites; manages volunteer recruitment and training, contract reporting and contributes to Law Program workshop facilitation. The Associate Reports to the Associate Director of San Mateo County and supervises the Law Program Coordinator.

Position Responsibilities

Manage Law Program School, Facility, and Community Sites

  • Responsible for day-to-day managing of Law Program sites and meeting of program deliverables, grant reporting and outcomes associated with program sites, meeting goals in recruitment, referral numbers, youth attendance, schedules, site contacts, and program calendar
  • Assist Law Program growth in expansion areas and maintain existing stakeholder relationships, includes establishing new sites in collaboration with the Programs Manager and building and maintaining relationships with site contacts
  • Conduct site visits to provide relevant feedback to facilitators and staff to ensure youth are engaged in program; coordinate site logistics to best fit volunteer and site needs
  • Facilitate FLY's law-related education curriculum at a minimum of 1-2 sites per semester
  • Effectively and quickly connect with and engage youth in FLY's programs
  • Compile relevant data and complete grant reports for funding sources related to program successes and / or challenges in collaboration with the Associate Director, as needed
  • Manage comprehensive budgets for all program needs, ensuring compliance with government and foundation grants and contracts

Lead Recruitment, Training, and Management of Volunteer Facilitators

  • Actively work to broaden volunteer recruitment base, review current recruitment plan and adjust accordingly to the current volunteer climate
  • Lead Law Program staff in coordinating and delivering volunteer recruitment presentations at local colleges and within the community
  • Nurture collaborative relationships with professors, college departments, and community organizations to receive volunteer applications
  • Schedule and conduct interviews of all qualified applicants each semester and screen, select, and notify applicants in collaboration with the programs team
  • Design, update and implement volunteer training curriculum for all prospective and lead program facilitators, includes creating agendas, updating and / or creating training content, and assigning sessions to program staff
  • Guide program staff in preparing and executing volunteer facilitator training; coordinating and confirming the attendance of guest speakers, presenters, youth panelists and all volunteer facilitators; ensure the set-up and logistics for training events in collaboration with the Programs Coordinator
  • Ensure all volunteers have necessary tools needed to facilitate workshops and provide feedback to volunteers to enhance and build upon their skills
  • Oversee Youth Recruitment, Community Outreach, and Program Events

  • Nurture and maintain relationships with school, community, and system providers to obtain youth referrals
  • Oversee youth referral collection and recruitment including speaking with guardians of youth and explaining the FLY Program, as needed
  • Oversee event planning and logistics for volunteer training sessions, program field trips, recognition ceremonies, and volunteer appreciation events
  • Speak in formal and informal settings about FLY and the Law Program with audiences of varying sizes
  • Lead program staff in team meetings leading up to events and debrief meetings following events
  • Seek out opportunities to provide law related education workshops within the community
  • Coordinate and confirm outside resource people / guest speakers for workshops and events
  • Supervision and Performance Management

  • Hire, supervise, coach, and evaluate the SF Law Program Coordinator role
  • Develop training plans and trainings for SF Law Program Coordinator
  • Conduct annual and 90-day performance reviews and professional development plans in collaboration with direct reports and regularly review work-product to provide staff with appropriate feedback
  • Actively participate and, in some cases, support efforts for general staff development and training, as needed (i.e. special task force meetings, creation of policies and procedures, etc.)
  • Prepare Grant Reports and Program Audits

  • Compile relevant data and complete monthly, quarterly, and year-end grant reports for program funding sources
  • Maintain accurate, organized and up to date records of all program and grant components
  • Train and support program staff in their roles and responsibilities for audits
  • Other duties as assigned and needed.

    This position is a full-time / part-time non-exempt / exempt role at a rate of [$ / hourly / annually] with differential pay options based on an advanced degree and, when applicable to the role, speaking another language. Our Total Rewards Package also includes the following :
