Spectrim/Sizer Operator

Overview:
Responsible for operating the Spectrim sorting system, train current operators on Spectrim and operate sizers.

Responsibilities:

• Advanced grading (mapping, special grades, classifying blemish or blobs, adjusting confidence
• for each defect).
• Setting threshold on different maps for export/domestic/bagger (maxing out each packout).
• Blob tracking during each run (capturing fruit during the run).
• Creating test for the Sizer Operators to advance the training (Spectrim quality trainer)
• Notify and submit maintenance Request to Maintenance Supervisor for any pack line maintenance issues.
• Max out the use on the AB fillers for each variety.
• Set-up packing line according to pack instructions.
• Communicate with the QC TEAM for grading issues.
• Communicate with Floor personnel to ensure accurate transitions of pack styles, lot changes and
• Communicate with the Sticker Operator to ensure proper stickers are ready for packaging
• Improving efficiencies to reduce labor per box by 10 to 15 cents.

Requirements:

- Previous experience operating Spectrim sorting system - two years preferred

- Strong mechanical knowledge and ability to troubleshoot equipment issues

- Attention to detail and ability to perform quality inspections

- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment

Work Environment:

• Job operates in the control tower. May be expected to spend time working in the cold-storage repack area, and the other times may be spent outside and in non-cold-storage area.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.

Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, scoop, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 55
pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee will be required to enter and exit cold storage areas and will experience temperatures ranging from 32 degrees Fahrenheit to exterior ambient weather temperatures.

Position Type Expected Hours of Work:
This is a seasonal position depending on the fruit. During citrus season, hours of work are Monday through Saturday (1st shift, 2nd shift or 3rd ) with overtime expected. Hours and workdays are dependent on fruit and can be adjusted with limited notice.
