Convenience Store Category Manager

Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Category Manager to join our convenience store team based in Greenville, SC. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing multiple merchandise categories, driving strategic initiatives, and ensuring the successful execution of category plans at the store level. This is a hybrid remote position with limited travel expected. You will develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors, hold them accountable for performance, and work closely with store operations to ensure seamless implementation and success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategy Development: Develop and execute comprehensive category strategies for multiple product categories, with a focus on maximizing sales, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
• Execution Planning: Create detailed execution plans for product assortment, pricing, promotions, and merchandising to drive category growth across all store locations.
• Vendor Relationships: Establish and maintain strong relationships with key vendors to negotiate pricing, terms, and promotional support. Hold vendors accountable for performance metrics and ensure timely delivery and product quality.
• KPI Development & Monitoring: Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for each category, track performance, and make data-driven recommendations to optimize sales and profitability.
• Collaboration with Store Operations: Work closely with store operations teams to ensure category plans are implemented effectively at the store level, including proper product placement, inventory management, and visual merchandising.
• Market Analysis & Reporting: Analyze category performance, market trends, and competitive landscape to adjust strategies and ensure category growth. Provide regular reporting to senior management on category performance, sales trends, and action plans.
• Promotions & Marketing: Collaborate with marketing teams to create and implement promotional campaigns and marketing strategies that drive customer engagement and sales within the assigned categories.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in category management or a similar role in the convenience store or retail industry.
• Strong knowledge of retail merchandising, pricing strategies, and product assortment.
• Proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans and drive results.
• Excellent relationship-building and negotiation skills with vendors and internal teams.
• Ability to analyze data and market trends to make informed decisions.
• Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a hybrid remote environment.
