Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the maintenance team in the execution of all maintenance activities, ensuring optimal performance and reliability of equipment and facilities across the plant.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance strategy that includes preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance to minimize downtime and enhance production efficiency.
- Monitor and assess the condition of all plant systems, utilizing root cause analysis to address failures and implement effective corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with EPA, DOH, FDNY, DEP and DOB regulations and safety standards across all maintenance operations, fostering a culture of safety awareness within the team.
- Manage relationships with external vendors, contractors, and service providers, overseeing their activities on-site to ensure quality and efficiency.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of maintenance equipment, plant equipment spare parts, and tools, assessing their condition and making recommendations for parts inventory levels, repairs and/or replacements as needed.
- Ensure the maintenance shop is organized, well-equipped, and supports efficient workflows and timely repairs.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives, utilizing data analysis and feedback to enhance maintenance processes and reduce operational costs.
- Provide technical expertise across multiple systems, including HVAC, electrical, boilers, chemical, conveyor, forklift operations and food processing equipment, ensuring all equipment meets industry standards.
- Develop and manage the maintenance budget, tracking expenses and making data-driven decisions to optimize resource allocation.
- Foster strong interpersonal relationships with all departments, promoting collaboration to identify and resolve maintenance-related issues effectively.
- Demonstrate excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks, allocate resources effectively, and manage unforeseen maintenance challenges.
- Adapt to changing priorities and conditions, demonstrating flexibility in leadership to support plant objectives and team dynamics.
- Ensure ongoing training and development of maintenance staff, enhancing their technical skills and safety awareness to maintain a highly skilled workforce.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, facilities management, or a related field or 10 years field experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years in maintenance management, with a proven track record in a food manufacturing environment.
- Expertise in diagnosing and repairing intricate machinery and systems. Proficient in using advanced diagnostic tools and techniques, including electrical testing and mechanical analysis.
- Strong problem-solving abilities that enable them to troubleshoot complex issues, such as diagnosing refrigerant leaks or intricate electrical faults. Able to analyze data to predict potential failures.
- In-depth understanding of manufacturer-specific systems and equipment, allowing for precise interventions and repairs. Familiar with technical documentation and service guidelines for machinery.
- Proficient in commercial/industrial: HVAC, Refrigeration, Steam, Plumbing and Electrical.
- Up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and safety standards.
- A commitment to continuous education and professional development.
- Certifications: Certified Plant Maintenance Manager (CPMM), Six Sigma certification, or equivalent, EPA certification, HVAC certification, NEC electrical certification, NBBPVI steam and Chemical Safety Training or HAZWOPER certification, forklift certification, and any relevant technical certifications.
