Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Warehouse and Transportation Manager. The Transportation Coordinator oversees the staff of drivers and provides daily reports to his/her direct report. As a coordinator, you will train new staff, schedule the current driving team (as directed by direct report), and prepare reports for upper management as assigned. You are also responsible for driving and delivering loads when needs arise. Additional duties will include overseeing the equipment utilization and maintenance program set forth by the Fresh-One Transportation Dept. It is expected that in this role you will adhere to all company policies, procedures, and DOT regulations.

Responsibilities:

Supervises drivers which involves (but is not limited to) training, coaching, performance management and problem resolution.

Supervises total facility dispatched route coordination.

Assists in scheduling and works in conjunction with Transportation Manager/Director to minimize operating expenses, and to ensure all deliveries are efficiently routed.

Ensuring deliveries and pickups are made in a timely manner and takes corrective actions.

Assists Transportation/Operations Manager with overall day-to-day administration of transportation and delivery functions, which may include calculating driver payroll, reviewing driver trip logs and expense reports, identifying and resolving problems, and ensuring that drivers are compliant with DOT regulations and FreshOne policies and procedures.

Ensures drivers fulfill duties safely by monitoring vehicle safety, safe usage of ramps and equipment, seat and weight belt use, and safe lifting and product-handling practices.

Collaborates with Safety Department in the administration of information on drivers, such as license statuses, traffic tickets, accidents and other risk and safety-related data.

Ensures accurate completion of all delivery and driver-related paperwork including DOT logs, Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR).

Ensures maintenance of all trucks, tractors and. trailers through daily reviews of pre- and post- trip inspections

Monitors driver practices to ensure key metrics (e,g. idle time) and takes action as necessary to achieve targets

Core Skills/Background:

High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience. Associates Degree preferred.

2 - 4 years transportation or related experience including knowledge of DOT and safety regulations, along with experience using fleet management systems.

Experience directly supervising and handling drivers in the field (beyond dispatching)

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Strong leadership and team management experience.

Proven ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Proficient in the use of financial analysis tools and software such as Samsara and other Load Boards.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 per hour
