Senior Manager Food Safety and Process Optimization

Sr. Manager Food Safety and Process Optimization will be focused on existing processes, operational standards and new process designs as well as focus on existing technology and equipment, operational standards and new technology and equipment designs. The successful candidate will drive innovation and improvement to bring a positive impact on delighting our consumers (pets and pet parents) to a greater level and further enhancing our competitive position in the market. In addition, you will focus on consumer centricity and data analytics to drive sustained and replicable results. You will provide enhancements to our overall process through:

• Identify opportunities to improve consumer experience through process optimization and trouble shooting of current opportunities
• Explore, develop and implement new process technologies, software (including AI) and instrumentation to drive or facilitate better consumer experience and lower cost
• Work cross functionally on sensory, microbiological and analytical projects focusing on shelf life optimization, product optimization among other focus areas
• Leverage data and on floor observation related to the current process to identify opportunities and measure success
• Develop strong working relationships with external partners
• Work with the cross functional team on validating and verifying processes as appropriate
• Work with the microbiology team on data analysis, laboratory accreditation as appropriate
• Provide hands on support for trial runs associated with new processes and technology
• Work with R&D, Operations and Regulatory to ensure new ideas are aligned with Freshpet values and vision
• Familiarity and knowledge of statistics and Lean tools in the identification of opportunities for improvement
• Available to travel to other Freshpet sites and partner facilities
• Responsible for supporting and co-leading the Freshpet Safety Culture exercise
  
  

What You Will Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in food science related area, Master’s preferred
• Minimum 4 years’ FSQA experience in a process development or manufacturing
  
  

environment; preferable in a food manufacturing facility

• Creative problem solving
• Strong analytical skills, understands value of data/information
• Demonstrated ability to lead a structured problem-solving effort
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• A positive, hands-on doer; leads by example
