JOB SUMMARY:
Support a group of equipment technicians that are responsible for equipment safety, uptime and performance. Perform and supervise repairs and preventative/predictive maintenance on a variety of production equipment. Develop and maintain maintenance and calibration schedules for all tools, machinery and equipment used in the manufacturing facility. Lead supporting activities for the operation team including 5S and Lean manufacturing activities, material handling improvements, production line configuration, and safety procedures. Manage workload with a positive attitude as a hands-on team player in a collaborative work environment.
This role is also responsible for understanding related Quality Management Systems including SQF, and GMP to ensure safety and quality of employees and products.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead and supervise company and industry standard safety policies and procedures - OSHA, NEC, NFPA, USDA, FDA, etc. Recognize and action unsafe work conditions and engages with the maintenance and operations team to ensure conditions and behaviors comply with policies. Work with site leadership to improve safe work practices and procedures as appropriate.
Develop and maintain ongoing preventive maintenance program to ensure optimum equipment safety, reliability, and performance. Schedule preventive maintenance to effectively meet production needs.
Provide effective day-to-day supervision, training and coaching to assigned maintenance associates to achieve the required equipment up time, equipment repairs, and production goals. Work with associates to resolve technical and machine problems.
Identify skills/training needs for maintenance associates and assists in the development and implementation of training programs. To include hands-on technical training, root cause analysis (RCA), failure mode analysis (FMA), predictive and condition based maintenance.
Plan and oversee production equipment rebuilds, line moves, installations, setups, and calibrations. Work with OEM's on emergency repairs as needed.
Provide the shift to shift communication link in order to keep all team members working toward the same goals. Communicate to employees all issues that affect the plant.
Gather and communicate maintenance department and equipment performance metrics. Uptime, PM Compliance, OT, etc.
Maintain, audit, and improve department records and inventories. Ensure accurate spare parts inventory and on-site availability to support equipment repairs and upgrades.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience
Required
Three (3) plus years of maintenance leadership experience in a manufacturing setting.
Five (5) plus years of maintenance mechanic experience in a manufacturing setting.
Strong preventive maintenance development experience, familiarity with reliability centered maintenance principles preferred.
Experience using lockout tagout, job hazard analysis, hot work permits, confined space, etc.
Preferred
Experience working in a food processing environment and familiar with USDA, FDA, and SQF policies and procedures.
Is trained in the use of condition diagnostic techniques including vibration analysis, oil analysis, ultrasonic testing, and thermographic testing.
Education
High School Diploma or GED, required
Two-year technical degree preferred
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
Required - Must provide own tools (diagnostic equipment and major tools provided by Sysco) necessary to perform all maintenance repair and diagnostics.
Preferred - Formal training in equipment maintenance repair, installation, and troubleshooting of electrical equipment is highly desired.

Must have experience using a CMMS.
Moderate knowledge in PLC, VFD/VSD, and relay logic is preferred.
Moderate knowledge and skill in welding and cutting (gas, electric, MIG, TIG) is preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is occasionally exposed to wet, hot, extreme cold and/or humid conditions; and moving mechanical parts and may be required to work in confined spaces. The associate works non-traditional business hours including evenings, nights, weekends, holidays and on-call. The associate may occasionally be required to travel to other Operating Companies or the corporate office as business needs dictate (i.e. training, business continuation, etc.).
