General Purpose
The Offsite Education Program Coordinator is responsible for planning and coordinating all aspects of offsite educational programs facilitated by the Zoo (After School Program partnerships, Zoo Mobiles, Camp Fairs).
Full-Time employees receive our comprehensive compensation package which includes 100% employer paid Medical / Dental / Vision, Employee Assistance Program, 401k, up to 10 Paid Holidays, Paid Sick and Paid Vacation time on an accrued basis. The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $27.00 per hour. Offers will be based on the successful candidate's experience.
Essential Accountabilities
- Designs and oversees a variety of offsite education programs to deliver fun, memorable experiences to students and local communities. Recommends new programs and / or adaptations of existing programs as appropriate to support the Zoo's mission, goals, and strategic plans.
- Writes and delivers curriculum for assigned programs in accordance with program goals, state standards, and partnership input.
- Coordinate staff scheduling, communication with school sites and allocation of supplies and materials for partnership programs.
- Maintain animal handling abilities with the Animal Ambassador Team and coordinates animal requests for Offsite Programs.
- Collaborates with Education Program Manager to train and ensure all Instructors and Docents are equipped to deliver a fun, educational experience to program participants.
- Works with Volunteer management team to assign Docents to support programs where needed. Including use and familiarity with the volunteer database program.
- Coordinates all administrative details needed for the implementation of program curriculum including the acquisition of supplies and materials needed.
- Follows all budgetary guidelines for supplies as provided by the Education Program Manager.
- Assists with onsite zoo education programming as needed.
- Participates in marketing educational programs to Zoo guests and the surrounding communities.
- Supports and leads camp training for Seasonal Instructors and established Educators in collaboration with Education Program Management and the Onsite Education Program Coordinator.
- Supports Zoo Camp during Winter, Spring, and Summer by leading camp groups when necessary, and acting as the lead for supplies, including prep, training, and ordering.
- Performs other tasks and projects as requested.
- Willing to learn and utilize the Zoo's Point of Sale System.
- Ability to safely operate a vehicle for business purposes including but not limited to going to and from the zoo's facilities and offsite.
