Vehicle Detailer

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

None.

SUMMARY

Under general direction of the Maintenance Manager, the Vehicle Detailer performs vehicle washes, waxes and exterior/interior detailing according to specification using cleaning agents, and other auto detailing tools.

Assist in the fulfillment of the Agency’s vision, “A strong Fresno County where people have resources to shape their future free from poverty.”

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Schedules vehicles for cleaning to ensure fleet readiness and adherence to appearance standards.

Maintains accurate vehicle records including mileage, service dates, and other information as directed by the Maintenance Manager.

Uses sound judgment and safe driving practices while operating agency vehicles. Communicates effectively using a radio or similar device to report issues during transport. Transports vehicles to and from Transit Systems and other designated locations.

Cleans and details the interior and exterior of all Transit System vehicles, including washing windows, sweeping, and vacuuming.

Performs thorough pre- and post-cleaning inspections of vehicles.

Mixes, labels, and stores cleaning chemicals according to required safety standards.

Applies wax and polishes vehicle surfaces using cloths or buffing machines to maintain vehicle appearance. Cleans upholstery, rugs, and other interior surfaces using appropriate agents and tools.

Applies protective treatments to vinyl, leather, and fabric surfaces.

Steam cleans engine components and removes grease and grime using appropriate chemicals and equipment.

Utilizes specialized cleaners to remove stubborn stains and materials, following manufacturer recommendations.

Checks and refills vehicle fluid levels as needed.

Jump-starts vehicles and perform minor maintenance as required. Assists maintenance staff with general upkeep and repair tasks.

Operates all Transit and Food Service vehicles on-site for washing and parking purposes.

Maintains inventory of cleaning supplies and notifies the Maintenance Manager when restocking is needed. Travels for agency-related tasks using reliable transportation.

Maintains consistent attendance and punctuality. Works evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Performs basic math calculations related to measurements and supply tracking. Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or GED

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of one (1) year of vehicle detailing.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

Preferred Class B

General knowledge of chemical agents and tools used in vehicle detailing. Effective presentation, written and verbal communication skills.

Able to perform assigned duties with limited supervision. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Ability to operate all cleaning machinery as required.

Willing to work non-traditional hours and days to meet the needs of this position. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and related business software.

Maintain a valid California driver’s license, reliable transportation, adequate auto insurance as required by

State law, and insurability by agency carrier for those driving agency vehicles.

The employee is occasionally required to climb. The employee is frequently required to kneel, crouch; and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must frequently reach above shoulder level. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Employee must have the ability to work in an outdoor environment with a majority of standing work.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, with a majority of standing work. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
