Position Summary
Master of Arts in School Counseling with Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential
The Master of Arts in School Counseling with a Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential prepares individuals to serve as credentialed School Counselors in public PK–12 school settings. This program is designed for those seeking to support student development through a Christ-centered approach to academic, career, and social-emotional counseling.
The program includes a minimum of 50 units of graduate coursework and 800 hours of supervised clinical practice in PK–12 environments. Each student follows a customized course sequence and educational plan, determined in collaboration with the program director.
Admission to the program requires completion of three prerequisite courses. These are waived for applicants who hold a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Fresno Pacific University, a University of California (UC), or a California State University (CSU) campus.

Essential Functions
Role:
- Teach courses as described and assigned
- Discuss class progress with the program director, including teaching performance through observation
- If supervising clinical experience: remotely supervise students according to the FPU and CTC requirements for supervised fieldwork
- Discuss supervisee progress with the Program Director
- Collaborate with other faculty as needed

Qualifications
Required:
- M.A. or Ed.D., Ph.D., Psy.D in related field of study
- Experience as a School Counselor or Administrator
- Hold or be eligible for a PPS Credential in School Counseling, Teaching Credential, or Administrative Credential
- Ability to work with students, staff, and faculty in a collegial environment
- Commitment to the Christian faith and the University’s mission of Christ-centered teaching and learning and involvement in a local church.
Environmental Conditions:
- Work is performed in a standard office and school environment, including classrooms and counseling spaces.
- The role may require travel between school sites or to off-campus locations for meetings, training, or student support.
- Exposure to moderate noise levels typical of a school setting (e.g., student interactions, bells, hallway traffic).
- Involves frequent interaction with students, families, teachers, and school personnel.
- May require occasional participation in evening or weekend events such as parent meetings, open houses, or school functions.
- Public contact position requiring professional apparel, personal hygiene, and grooming.
Physical Demands:
- Frequent sitting, standing, and walking throughout the school day.
- Occasional lifting and carrying of materials or equipment up to 25 pounds.
- Regular use of computer and other office equipment requiring repetitive hand and wrist movements.
- Ability to speak and hear clearly in face-to-face and telephone communication.
- Visual acuity to read documents, student records, and computer screens.
- May require extended periods of concentration and interaction in high-stress or emotionally charged situations involving student well-being.

Compensation is based on highest completed degree level:
Master's degree: Anticipated pay per unit $811.51, $23.97 per hour
Terminal degree: Anticipated pay per unit $977.98, $28.82 per hour
