This position is accountable for maintaining, modifying and making repairs to the Meditech system as well as other electronic health records related programs (patient portal, FormFast, MAC, etc).
This candidate functions as a clinical expert in Informatics and should possess advanced knowledge and skills pertinent to the technological needs of staff and physicians. This individual collaborates and consults with other healthcare and IT professionals under the supervision of the Supervisor of Informatics to advance healthcare practice and processes through development and optimization of electronic documentation and by providing education of end-users on effective use of the EHR thus improving clinical/customer outcomes.
Provides mentorship to staff.
Informatics employees take call on a rotating schedule with hours as determined by the organization.
This position also serves as a Respiratory Therapy Resource to nursing staff when required
Required Skills:
Minimum Education
- Associates Degree Required
- Certification in Informatics preferred.
- Two or more years of clinical/education experience preferred.
- Meditech experience preferred.
Required License and Certifications
- CA Respiratory Care Practitioner license required
- BLS Certificate.

Essential Functions
- Acts as a liaison between systems development staff, management and system end-users. . Documents, tracks, and follow-ups on all reported problems, enhancement requests and system changes for clinical modules.
- Acts as a resource to departments in process improvement pertaining to use of technology to enhance care, improve upon documentation, gain efficiencies, etc.
- Functions as a leader of a Super User Team, comprised of nurses/staff from each area/department of the hospital. This group would assist the Informatics Nurse role with developing and training staff as well as providing input from their areas about development needs.
- Responsible for building and maintaining all electronic documentation modules (e.g. PCS, ORM and PCM and POM)
- Responsible for building documentation to capture Meaningful Use data and provides education to staff on said data.
- Reviews monthly Meaningful Use audits.
- Thorough testing of all EHR modules, software updates and new releases to ensure a successful implementation.
- Assists in training new Informatics staff
- Develop appropriate curriculum for staff training. Document, track, and follow-up on all reported problems, enhancement requests and system changes for clinical modules.
- Serves as a resource to departments in process improvement pertaining to use of technology to enhance care, improve upon documentation, gain efficiencies, etc.
- Develops clear and concise ad-hoc reports utilizing the current analytical and reporting environment.
- Defines and manages the scope of a business solution to meet the goals of the organization as they relate to the site.
- Provides on-going support including resolution of application system incidents, root cause analysis of problem, impact analysis, and planning of proposed system upgrades and patches, analysis and development of enhancements to meet changing customer business requirements.
- Will assure an understanding of the integration between applications as it relates to Electronic Health Records.
- Understanding integration of applications to third party applications to include specification development.
- Identifies additional system(s) needs for clinical applications that will enhance the effectiveness and/or efficiency of the Electronic Health Record.

- Respiratory Therapy Resource duties:
- Education/competency training to RN staff regarding c-pap as needed
- Education/competency training to RN staff regarding inhalation treatments
- Education/competency training for any new areas deemed appropriate by CNO and CEO
- Review of our respiratory procedures.
- Work in conjunction with nursing and Anesthesia to develop protocols per CNO and CEO direction
- Assisting in reviewing/purchasing new equipment as needed
- Available to answer questions and act as a resource as needed
