MACHINE OPERATOR (MACHINE SHOP)

Location: 7736 E. Springfield Ave., Selma, CA 93662
Hours: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
Position: Hourly
Payroll: Bi-Weekly

Job Summary
Responsible for setting up and operating various machine tools to metallic and nonmetallic work pieces while providing support to the production team.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Reads and studies blueprints, work orders and plans for product specification
- Selects, positions and secures tools in holder
- Set specific feeds, speeds and depth of cuts
- Control valves to direct flow of coolant or cutting oil against tools/work pieces
- Observes proper machine operation
- Performs daily machine maintenance
- Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
- Clean and maintain the work area and equipment, including tools.
- Performs routine inspections of completed pieces
- Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
Qualifications and Skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred and 1-2 years Machine Operator experience
- Ability to work in a fast pace environment
- Team-oriented with strong communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with others to work as a team.
- Must have the ability to perform accurate measurements and basic arithmetic.
- Must be able to use a measuring tape, caliper and other measuring tools.
- Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to work independently, detail-oriented with strong communication skills.

Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to stand for extended periods and perform lifting, twisting, and bending.
- Standing: Frequent to continuous

- Walking: Occasional to frequent
- Bending/Stooping/Squatting/Kneeling: Occasional to frequent
- Lifting and Carrying: Up to 50 lbs. on an occasional basis
Working Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes and airborne particles. The employee operates in a loud noise level environment. This position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and uses standard heavy equipment and tools.
The employee must wear a respirator and hard hat (when applicable), approved safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed shoes at all times.
Personal Protective Equipment and Safety:
The employee must wear approved Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, respirator, hearing protection, and steel-toed shoes at all times.
