Responsibilities
- Engage with customers in defining customer requirements, material requirements for relevant market segments, and supports customer with gland and grove design for sealing application (performs FMEA analysis and presents to customer) and failure analysis.
- Responsible for material selection for RFQ/Specifications working closely with the Product Marketing and Commercial team.
- Lead the development of materials to meet the customer requirements for the AC O-Ring Industry.
- Responsible to ensure that FNST compounds meet segment and customer specific specification and ensure testing data and approval is up to date (QPL, SAE, Customer spec).
- Participation in SAE CE committee on Aerospace Elastomer Materials.
- Participate in evaluation of material suppliers, audits, selection, or replacement of raw materials, and performs benchmark testing of competitor's materials.
- Leads implementation of new materials at manufacturing site and exchanges and coordinates within O-Ring Division and other technical functions within the company
- Review and propose material rationalization and/or eliminate materials (Manage out list of materials to reduce complexity).
- Support of Sales and Product Marketing team on customer-visits, -calls and tech days to promote high level of knowledge of the material properties and behaviors in presented applications by customers.
Qualifications
- B.S. in Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering or Aeronautical Engineering
- 5 to 7 years minimum work experience in chemistry or aerospace industry
- Experience in polymer science and rubber compounding-- a plus
- Experience with elastomeric seals in aerospace, fluid handling and oil & gas industries preferred.
