Job Summary
Hourly – Non-Exempt
Position/ Role Title: Quality Lab Technician
Division: Fluid Power; Lead Center Fluid Power Automotive
Manager: Quality Lab Supervisor
Location: Findlay, OH
Role Purpose
This position is responsible for performing tests and analyzing data. They will be able to successfully follow customer, ASTM, and other source instructions on performing necessary testing. The position will also be responsible for performing gauge R&R’s, calibrating measurement tools/fixtures/gages, writing work instructions explaining test and measuring methods used by operators, and developing PPAP data/forms. They will also be responsible for ensuring acceptable product is being produced in the manufacturing cells via break point inspections, setup verification, and other production support as needed.
Position Requirements
Ø Operation of testing/tools/equipment such as tensile and elongation testing, automated measurement systems, contamination testing, and any other testing & analyzing per internal & customer requirements.
Ø Competent in the use of hand gauging, including but not limited to, height gauges, step gauges, angle blocks, surface plates, various types of micrometers, calipers.
Ø Ability to measure and analyze product dimensionally for OD, ID, RW, width, angle, perpendicularity, parallelism, and other criteria deemed necessary.
Ø Ability to read/interpret blueprints in English & Metric including basic knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Perform basic statistical analysis.
Ø MS office proficiency including use of Minitab.
Ø Excellent people skills - must be able to communicate with diverse levels of employees.
Ø Must be able to speak, read and write English proficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Ø Perform testing and analysis of products utilizing measurement fixtures/gages/equipment. Understand customer, ASTM and other testing requirements and implement successfully.
Ø Identify suspect product and disposition accordingly. Communicate findings to appropriate personnel and assist in problem solving & continuous improvement.
Ø Develop PPAP data and related forms. Provide necessary support to Quality Engineering.
Ø Perform gauge R&Rs to reduce variability in measurement devices.
Ø Maintain & improve 5S conditions in the lab.
Ø Develop and maintain close working relationships between cells/departments to promote exchange of ideas.
Ø Must be willing to work extra hours if needed.
Ø Special projects, assignments and tasks as required.

Professional Experience & Educational Requirements
- Associate’s Degree in technical field or equivalent lab experience
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills required
