Shift Supervisor
Responsibilities
- Lead and direct the efforts of hourly production personnel.
- Maintain and show incremental improvement in current product/process quality indices - investigate and correct abnormalities.
- Troubleshoot process/equipment and correct when product or process limits are exceeded. Direct maintenance or technical assistance as required.
- Provide a safe working environment by achieving high standards in housekeeping and safety awareness in production personnel. Conduct safety tours and situation resolution. Conduct and document safety meetings, etc.
- Serve as mentor/coach to operators to instill a sense of ownership of the process/product and promote teamwork
- Maintain all equipment (mechanical and cleanliness) to achieve high level of utilization. Coordinate preventive and emergency maintenance/cleaning.
- Manage workforce to meet daily production requirements and budgetary targets.
- Monitor shift production reports and levels to insure effective use of labor and equipment.
- Monitor shift product testing to maintain specifications.
- Effectively coordinate and utilize efforts of operators during non-production.
- Education: 4 yr degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution is a plus.
- Years of Experience: Prior supervisory/managerial experience (2 – 5 yrs) required
- Technical knowledge of manufacturing processes with Nonwovens, winding, and extrusion knowledge a definite advantage.
- Ability to effectively communicate and lead the workforce to a common goal.
- To be able to quickly and decisively analyze and resolve multiple situations.
- Knowledge of current computer software and systems (ERP (SAP preferred), Microsoft Office, Payroll (ADP), etc.)
- Strong communication skills are essential.
- Previous work in a Union environment preferred.
